Perfect Pergola
Using every 'yard' to it's fullest potential
Challenge: This tiny backyard was a slab of concrete and some muddy, wet grass. Not very usable and in the summer, way to hot to sit outside. How can one make a miniature backyard feel like an exotic retreat? Huh? I wonder.
Solution: Oh, I got it! Call Huh?! By designing and constructing a pergola over the newly extended slate tiled patio, the living area was taken right up to the property line allowing an area for a garden shed, shaded seating under the pergola and even a comfy hammock. In addition, since this look was inspired by my trip to Italy and Spain (both close to Morocco), I hung Moroccan lanterns from the pergola to infuse a bit of romantic lighting at night. Vines were trained up the posts and once fully grown in, this will be the ideal summer retreat for friends and family alike. Hmm, a glass of Chianti sounds good right about now.
