Kitchen Floor Mosaic

Who says nobody looks at the floor?

Challenge: While designing this kitchen, I had planned on originally putting down just the 12" ceramic tiles. But as I started laying them, I realized that this was almost a wasted opportunity. Why not add more?!

Solution: In this kitchen, I had designed the lighting as a criss-cross cable system and wanted to mimic the outside shape on the floor. I created a border of 1" slate mosaic tiles, then laid the interior ceramics on a bias and finished off the center with another slate mosaic. The result was something truly exceptional that really takes this space from nice to extraordinary.
