Art Deco With a Hint of Retro

Challenge: The space had elements of what it could become, they just needed some help. This lawyer loves the Art Deco style as well as elements of his 1950s retro-style roots and wanted to combine both into his law office. The current built-in had seen better days but in terms of storage - was stellar. The room arrangement was in desperate need of an overhaul and what was was most needed was order, style and functionality. Huh? delivered.

Solution: I started out by refinishing the built-in with a glossy black paint and metallic Deco stencils on the door fronts and silver detail on the molding. I then centered the desk in front of the built-in, brought lightness into the space with the white retro-style guest chairs and finally, created a document review area with the orange bubble chair and black bench. Elements of this lawyer's collections were featured throughout the office adding punches of color and personality while the formal structure of the Art Deco style proved that it meant business. Combined, the space now offers professional counsel with a spark of personality.
