Herringbone Glass Mosaic Fireplace

From Dark & Dingy to Light & Shiny

Challenge: The old style of this fireplace was dark, dirty brick surrounded by worn wood - almost gloomy enough to make you feel like you were in a dungeon. This room needed an update and the fireplace needed some sparkle. Working with the designer on HGTV's Designing For the Sexes, I transformed this fireplace into a glittery masterpiece.

Solution: Initially, I wasn't so happy with this tile. Not that it wasn't beautiful, but it was 1/2 as thin as normal glass tile and shattered upon cutting, making installation quite tricky. But upon finding a few tricks of my own, installation went along pretty smoothly. The result was a bright and shiny new fireplace that provided texture, interest and glamour to the overall room.
